Japanese superstar Yoshiki, who composed the theme for the Golden Globes show, displayed his talents at a theme song listening party he hosted for the HFPA and other guests at Soho House.  A string quartet played compositions by Yohshiki as guests dined at a buffet featuring a menu created by celebrity chef Katsuya Uechi of Katsu-Ya and drank wine from Yoshiki’s own brand, Y. They then watched a 20-minute film featuring news clips and concert footage of Yoshiki and his band XJapan.
Yoshiki recalled how he had met HFPA president Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly at a party, and hearing he had composed the theme for the world’s fair Expo 2005 and a song to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Emperor Akihito’s enthronement, she asked if he would compose a theme for the  Golden Globes.
To commemorate the occasion he unveiled a gift (left) he had designed for all 85 HFPA members—-a framed disc and some musical notes which, when put together, comprise the Golden Globes theme.
